Construction: The sweater is worked in the round on a long circular from the hem to the armholes; the upper back and front are worked flat and joined at the shoulders. The sleeves are worked top-down, in the round, using short rows to shape the caps. The neckband is worked to twice the desired length, then folded and sewn to the inside.
NOTE: The decreases in the FIRST decrease round are not symmetrical, paired decreases. This is on purpose. Please follow the pattern exactly as written. The decreases are placed where they are in that first decrease round to keep the ribbing flowing nicely into the stitch patterns that follow. If you read ahead, you’ll see that all future decrease rounds consist of paired decreases at the sides.
Gauge: 19 sts/29 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch on larger needle after blocking
Stitch patterns are given in both written form and charts.
